EddyeBiography

Even in early childhood, Eddye was compelled to create. Mud pies decorated with flowers, her own paper dolls and all their clothing, and pictures chalked on the side walk in front of her west Texas home are just some of the items she crafted. As she grew older, her creative outlets included, among other things, sewing, appliqué, mosaics and gourd art. In 1996 she discovered polymer clay and has been smitten ever since. She finds the medium versatile and fascinating.

Of all the many uses of polymer clay, Eddye finds making Art Dolls the most challenging and satisfying. What is the difference between dolls as toys and Art Dolls? Art Dolls are not play things rather they are to be viewed as any other work of art. They evoke emotions, capture a moment in time, or tell a story. Art Dolls are original, one-of-a kind creations.

Eddye also makes jewelry, small figures, and vessels. Her jewelry tends to be big and colorful. Her sculptures are often whimsical.

Eddye’s idea of her art is not mysterious. She sculpts for joy and fun, and strives to impart the same to viewers. She has won awards in Fort Worth and Tyler Texas and Natchitoches, Louisiana.

Eddye has three children, three grandchildren and one great grandchild. She is a retired Employee Development Specialist with the US Department of Agriculture.
